Gryffindor vs. Slytherin

At that moment, One was trying to pick a kernel of popcorn from the wires of his headgear. Charlie had practically shoved the damned thing into his chomper, in spite of his reserved protests.

Lena turned around and saw the boy Rachel was talking about. She didn't see what Rachel liked so much about One, but maybe that was better. It was never good to like the same boy as your friend. Although, was Rachel really Lena's "friend". Lena didn't have friends. It didn't work like that with her. "Oh," she said to Rachel, not exactly sure what else to say.

"Isn't he cute?" sighed Rachel dreamily. "He's really nice too, and he'll give an arm and a leg-not literally of course to help you and he's really smart."

Suddenly, one of the players crashed into the field below! The new Gryffindor seeker -- that Potter boy, wasn't it? -- was slowly sitting up, apparently choking on something... Lo and behold! It was the snitch! "GRYFFINDOR WINS!" cried the announcer.

Amanda flailed her arms some more before sitting down, completely out of breath.

The people in the stands around Lena jumped up and cheered, hugging each other and yelling about Gryffindor's victory. Lena was quite overwhelmed by all this commotion, and just nodded at Rachel. Then, after her eyes stopped bugging out, she jumped up too, and started cheering. It was a small cheer, but a big step forward.

Rachel was applauding politely, along with the rest of the crowd. Even though she didn't care for Quidditch, that was a brilliant catch by Harry.

"Gryffindor is your house, right?!" Rachel yelled, so Lena could hear her above the din of the crowd. "You must be happy!"

"Yes, Gryffindor is my house," Lena said. It sounded strange. She still didn't get why she was a Gryffindor. She was sort of coming to accept it. But she always felt out of place with her house members. They were so much louder and way more rambunctious than she was. It made her feel inadequate. "And yeah, I guess I am happy," she admitted, though she guessed that her happiness had less to do with the Quidditch match and more to do with her personal growth.

"That's great that your team once! But when Ravenclaw plays against your team, we will beat you!" she cheered happily. "We have this girl named Cho Cang who is starting this year and apparently she's the best Chaser ever!"

"Really?" Lena asked. She detected a hint of doubt in her own voice. Suddenly she was overcome with the desire to tell Rachel that no, Gryffindor was going to beat THEM. And who was this Cho Chang person, anyways? Lena found herself wanting with a burning passion to be a Chaser, the best Chaser ever, just so she could show up Cho Chang. Then, just as quickly as they had come, the feelings were gone. And Lena was left dumbfounded.
